Today the class had another work period to make progress with their Unit Task. I also gave out a unit review - this is posted on the Biology website for those that were absent. Note: If we didn't discuss something in class, you are not responsible for it on the unit test. There are 2 or 3 terms on the Unit Review that we did not do this semester. Ask a classmate that was in class for the parts we crossed out. Also note that there will be a substantial WBQ on Monday. Happy Halloween !!

Today the class had a work period to make some progress with their Unit Task. This Unit Task is posted on the Biology webpage.
Today we took a note on farming and looked at how humans change and manage an ecosystem to grow crops. There are advantages and disadvantages to this. If you were away, please download and print "Farming" and "Issues with Pesticides" from the Biology webpage. Homework: Be prepared for your work period tomorrow. You are expected to work on your Unit Task. We are in the classroom so bring things you can do in the classroom. If you have a laptop you wish to bring, you can.
Today was a work period for you to progress on the Forestry Case STudy. It is due Thursday but today was your last work period in class. You will need to finish at home now.
Today we did a quick note on Forestry practices. We started our Forestry Case Study together. Tomorrow will be a work period for you. It is due Thursday but remember Tuesday is the last work period in class.
Today a note on Invasive Species (3.5 in text). There was a note template and extras are in the binder at the side of the classroom. Also, more discussion about the Unit Task. The actual outline and rubric was handed out. There are extras in the binder at side of room or you can download from the website. Note: The Unit Task is due Thurs. Nov. 6. We will have 2 class periods dedicated to working on this. These are Thursday and Friday Oct. 30 and 31. Also note that the unit test is set for Tuesday Nov. 4th. Homework: begin to think about / plan / start Unit task,.
Today we did a fill-in-blank note about "Biodiversity and Habitat Loss". If you were absent, there are extra in the binder at the side of the class or you can download the note from the biology webpage. We watched more of the documentary "Magical Forest". At the end of the class, you were introduced to your Unit Task. (Hand out - extras at side and on Biology webpage). Although its not due for quite some time, I encourage you to think about how you will complete it - you have choices! Homework: Think about your Unit Task.
We took a fill-in-the-blank note about the value of natural ecosystems. If you were absent, you want to grab a copy of the note from the binder in the classroom. There is a similar note on-line entitled :Value of natural ecosystems". We ended the class by watching the BBC movie "Magical Forest" which illustrates how a healthy (north American) ecosystem works.
Today you had the period to work on a "Biome" worksheet. Answers were posted on the front board so you could check your work. Any time left, you were encouraged to work on "Oh Deer:" which is due tomorrow. Homework: Finish "Oh Deer".
Today I explained the assignment for "Oh Deer" simulation (game) we played on Friday. Those that were away were to copy our results down. The assignment is due Wednesday, but remember, tomorrow is not a work period. Tomorrow is a new lesson. Homework: Work away on "Oh Deer". Look at all the questions you need to do. If any trouble you, see me at the end of class or lunch tomorrow for some assistance.
