You received some note templates that we filled in together on the value of ecosystems, succession and biodiversity. You can download the note templates from the website: "Value of Ecosystems" and "Biodiversity". We also looked at some short video clips on the destruction of the Mt. St. Helen's volcano (1980) and the subsequent efforts of nature to rebuild the forest ecosystem (succession). These video links will be uploaded to the website. Homework: Remember that you are responsible for this information even if you aren't assigned textbook work. Continue to work on your culminating project.

The class today was set aside for students to complete their independent assignment. Students will have all period tomorrow to finish this assignment. Homework: Keep working on the Science concept maps!
Last night' homework was taken up (all homework answers are posted on web - 1st fild). We also watched 2 Crash Course Ecology videos: Crash Course Ecology: Human Impacts on Ecosystems and Crash Course Ecology: How Humans can Help. The 1st one (human impacts) is the most important. The 2nd one gets a bit too technical but at least tells us that there are things we can do to help. These are available to view on the Biology webpage. They are about 10 minutes long each. The balance of the class (30+ minutes) was set aside to work on an assignment. This will be done in class so that it frees you up to work on the culminating assignment at home. I collected the work and will return to you on Monday. All of Monday is set aside to work on it. I have not set a due date yet. If you were absent, it would be best to watch the 2 videos. You will start your assignment on Monday. Homework: Work on your culminating project.
