Homework: Complete the sheet you were given at the end of the period. It is to be handed in tomorrow and it is marked.
Today we did our reaction lab and it went really well :)

A couple of small lessons today.
1. WBQ - on nomenclature and balancing. If you are having trouble, see me @ lunch this week. 2. Acid/Base indicator lab - just a fun little lab to discover what indicators do. Keep the results in your notebook as a note. 3. Prepping for lab tomorrow. Make sure you have an observations chart ready to go. It should be a full page. Enough room to record the observations of the reactants AND the reaction and products. Remember there are really 7 reactions A,B,C,D, E, F1 and F2. ***You need your safety contract signed in order to do this lab. *** Today you had a supply and a reading assignment on Combustion and Corrosion. Make sure you read and answer the questions. Some part of this will show up on your unit test. ;)
Today we had more practice with writing balanced chemical formulas. We looked forward to our lab next Tuesday. You were given a copy of the lab so you can familarize yourself with it.
LESSON #13 - Today a lesson on reaction types. There is a downloadable note under 'chapter 6' on chemistry page. I gave you worksheets to do in class instead of the textbook work. You can do questions at the end of chapter 6.5 for extra practise if you wish but is not assigned nor expected.
PLEASE BRING IN YOUR SIGNED SAFETY CONTRACT ! LESSON #12 - Today we discussed the results to the Mass Lab and learned about the LAW of Conservation of MAss. (it's important). We also learned to balance equations. Homework: Read 6.3, 6.4 and do p. 232 # 2, 6 and p. 236 # 4, 8, 7 a-f
Remember to check your answers at back of text or online on my chemistry website. Today we ran the Mass Lab (6.2). Homework: Write up your results in proper lab format for tomorrow. Remember to view the 'How to Do Science' document for specific instructions. It's location on website was shown at end of class. Pay attention to the required format as you are expected to follow it.
HOW TO FIND THIS "HOW TO DO SCIENCE" document. 1. Homepage --> scroll down to 'Helpful' subtitle and click live link to 'Other Useful Notes' page.. It is the first document. 2. Hover over 'home' in the black horizontal tab at top of homepage. A drop down menu will appear. Click 'Other useful Notes'. It is the first document. 3. Go to the SNC2D webpage. It is a live link on this page below the units of study. Homework: Complete the write up for the lab. You need to bring to class in writing so either write by hand or do by computer and PRINT IT OUT. LESSON #10 - Today you wrote your compound quiz. After that you read 6.1 (Describing chemical reactions) and created a Cornell Note. I showed a powerpoint note too that emphasized the key points. Homework: Do p. 227 # 1,2,3,4. Also, Read 6.2 - we will be doing this lab on Tuesday and you need to know what to do.
Remember you have a quiz tomorrow on the 3 types of compounds.
