Today we reviewed Optics. Remember that there is a review by topic on the exam page.
Today we reviewed Chemistry. Questions and answers were provided. A review by topic is also posted on the exam page: Home --> Exam Info --> SNC2D Exam Info
Today we looked at albedo and feedback loops. If you were away, you can download and print the note entitled 'Feedback Loops" on the Climate Change page.
Today we walked down to the Basilica for our year end mass.
Today we had a retreat - no science class.
Today we looked at the global climate and what it was like for the past 400,000 years (cyclical). We also looked at how scientists can get clues about the climate so long ago (proxy records in nature). Homework: Read 8.11
Today we talked about the GreenHouse Effect - what it is and how it works. We also identified the top 3 Green House Gases: carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide. We watched a little more of our movie (up to 41 minutes - you can access Six Degrees Movies on the Climate Webpage). Homework: Scan/read 8.6 and 9.4 to identify natural sources and anthropogenis sources of CO2, CH4 and N2O. You should also know the CO2 equivalence of each. Create a chart - it's easier. ;)
We started our discussion/learning about Climate Change. Today we focussed on the difference between weather and climate (note). We also starting watching the documentary 'Six Degrees can Change the World". Homework: Read 8.1
**REMEMBER --> Your culminating concept maps are due Friday June 15th - no late assignments will be accepted. Today we went to see the Ted TAlks. No homework.
