Today you had a supply teacher. Optics test is tomorrow now (Tues.)
Lesson 14: 2 handouts today - the Human eye (know the parts and what they do) and a sheet comparing your eye to a camera. Homework: Read 13.6 and do p. 570 # 1,3,5,8 and p. 577 # 1,2,3,5
NOTE: I uploaded 2 short videos on eyes on the Optics website are helpful. Today a lesson on the thin lens equations. There is a downloadable note under Chapter 13 called "Thin Lens Equations". You should read the section in the textbook as well especially if you were absent. The sample problems are really good here. Homework: REad 13.5 and complete the # 1,3,5,6,7,8 on page 566.
A lesson and a handout on images in convex and concave LENS. Homework: REad 13.1 AND 13.3 and do # 2,3,4,5,6 on page 553
Today you had a formative (practice) quiz on refraction. We marked it as well. We are coming towards the end of this unit. You could begin to complete your titlepage and start reviewing.
Lesson #12: Today teacher notes on applications of TIR and refraction phenomena. If you were away, please read 12.5 and 12.7. For T.I.R., we took notes about fibre optics, why diamonds sparkle, how a periscope works and retroreflectors. Please take your own notes (including a sketch) or copy from a friend when you return. For refraction phenomena, we took notes on apparent depth, how a rainbow is created and that optical illusion of seeing a puddle far ahead on the highway. There is a note template for this you can download OR take your own notes OR copy from a friend when you return. Homework: Read 12.5 and 12.7 and do # 1,2,4,5,6,7 on page 539. Remember answers are posted on the Optics webpage.
Lesson 10: T.I.R. There is a downloadable note entitled "Total Internal Reflection" you should download if you were absent. Homework: Read 12.5 and do # 1,3, 5, 8
Remember your refraction lab is due tomorrow. Lesson 8: Today we learned the math that goes with refraction. Homework: Read 12.4 and do # 1-10 on page 525.
