Today was your Unit Test. No homework. :)
Tomorrow: Period 1 - Work period to start your culminating project. I suggest you do a rough copy. Bring coloured pencils etc. if you would like. I will have some in class but you may want your own. Period 4 - We don't have much of a period so likely we will not have a work period. Today was a review day. Light/Optics Unit test is tomorrow.
Lesson #18 - We took some time to do more practice with the thin lens formulas (math part). Remember the answers for the handout sheet are uploaded onto the webpage. Today 2 handouts - They will be scanned as one document and uploaded. Look for 'Human Eye' and print out if you were absent. There are questions from the text as well. Homework: Complete the handout sheets and do p. 570 # 1,3,5,8 and p. 577 # 1,2,3,5
LESSON # 17 - Today a lesson on thin lens equations. This is a tricky lesson and if you were absent, I strongly advise you to see me @ lunch for help. There is a downloadable note entitled "Thin Lens equations" you should download and print. Homework: Don't worry about the textbook questions. Just complete the hand out. (extras in bin). I uploaded the answers on line on the Optics page (Ch. 13). If you were absent, try # 1, #3 on page 561

Lesson #16 - Today a handout - currently not on the website - please grab from binder. If you were away, please read 13.1 and 13.3 and you may need to see me at lunch for this lesson. Homework: read 13.1 and 13.3 and do # 2,3,4,5,6 on page 553.
Lesson #13 - Today a note about how T.I.R. and refraction help us explain rainbows, apparent depth, water mirages on roads, sparkling diamonds, fibre optics, periscopes and retroreflectors. I did give out one handout with a diagram of a rainbow and the class wrote notes on top of that. Extra handouts are in the binder @ back of room. There is a downloadable note on refraction phenomenon (12.7) It is called "refraction phenomenon". Please read 12.5 to do the T.I.R. phenomenon (sparkling diamonds, fibre optics, periscopes and retroreflectors). Be able to sketch and explain all. Homework: Read 12.5 adn 12.7 and do # 1,2,4,5,6,7 on page 539
Lesson #12 - Total Internal Reflection (12.5 in text). Today a lesson on T.I.R. If you were absent, you can download a note entitled "Total Internal Reflection" on the Optics webpage. Homework: Read 12.5 and do # 1,3,4,5,8 on page 531
Lesson #11 - Today we learned the math for refraction. It will be very helpful to read 12.4 and follow the example calculations. Homework: Read 12.4 and complete # 1-10. Remember to self-check with answers on website.
