Today we performed a refraction lab - looking at how light refracts through water and oil. There is a lab handout with a marking rubric. Click here if you need this handout. Note: I am also marking your ray diagrams! Tomorrow is a work period : you can either continue with lab or take the time to write up the lab. Formal lab is due Monday. Homework: It would be smart to calculate sini/sinR for your results to see if you have a pattern.
Today we finished an inquiry involving refraction. We reviewed what is expected for a proper ray drawing. Homework: Read 12.1 and complete p. 519 # 1- 5. There's also a hand out to complete. click here for the handout.
Today you had your Chapter 11 quiz - light and mirrors. We started talking a bit about refraction. If you want to play with the online simulation I had during class, click here. Also, you chose your research topics. Homework: Start to research your topic.
Finish the hand-out from Friday. YOu should be able to use ray diagrams to find an image in a curved mirror. Homework: Study for chapter 11 quiz tomorrow (summative) Click here for physicsclassroom.com link on curved mirrors. CLick here for simulations etc.
We had a discovery lesson about what light does in a curved mirror. We also had a hand out learning how to find an image using theory and ray diagrams. Homework: Read 11.9 and complete # 1-7 and 10 on page 501.
Today you heard a story about Arctic survival using knowledge of mirrors. You had 10 questions to answer. You can get a copy of the questions at the back in the bin. Also, you read an article about h
WE took up Monday's homework. Some discussion about laser light and some videos were shown. Homework: Complete hand out given. Page 487 is the page in the textbook to read to help you answer. Click here for handout.
We also did a very short note on Wave Terminology (please get from a classmate) and we had a worksheet practising these terms (extra sheets in the bin @ back of room). Period 4 - no homework. Homework: Period 5 since we don't have science class tomorrow, please complete the hand out on lasers for Thursday's class.
Notes were taken on reflection (click here) and finding an image in a plane mirror (click here) Homework: Read 11.6 & 11.7 Do: # 1-5 on p 486 and # 1,2,3, 5c, 7, 9, 11 on p 493
