We took up homework on 'Silence of the Frogs' and on 'Ecology 1.5'. We began a Plant Earth Video on endangered species. There are questions to answer. You are responsible for these and they can show up on a unit test or exam.

A frog is often considered an 'indicator' species or a proverbial 'canary in a coalmine'. We read about and answered questions concerning declining frog populations. That was completed in class. For homework: complete the definition sheet. useful for tests!

We did a note on some additional Ecology terms, discussed/read about endangered animals & need for biodiversity. Seatwork was assigned. We do not have a textbook for this unit, so please find a buddy's notes if you were absent.
Today we collected biotic and abiotic information from the meadow nearby. Tomorrow we will do some more theory and Friday we will do a second study of the naturalized area behind St. Joseph's hospital.
Ecology was introduced today. it was a long note on Ecology theory & what we are going to measure in our field study tomorrow. Wed., tomorrow, you are to be in uniform, but for Science, you may have different shoes. We will walk to the field across the parking lot to do our study. The Optics Unit Test was written today. Tomorrow we will start Ecology.
Neither period #1, nor period #2 were able to write the Optics Unit Test. So BOTH classes will write the unit test on Monday May 17.
