Today you had your compound quiz. I will have them marked and returned by Monday. We also did a note on "Describing Chemical Reactions". There is a note of the same name you can download if you are absent. If you were absent, you will write the compound quiz when you return assuming it is a confirmed absence. If not...see me. Homework: read 6.1 and do p. 227 # 1,2,3,4

Period 1 - We completed the 'cost/benefit' lesson from yesterday. Then we watched a video on the top 9 scientifically proven study habits. After that we created an organizer to compare all 3 compounds. At the end of the class, you got a practice quiz - this is very much like the one you will get tomorrow. Homework: Review 3 compounds. Optional practise: p. 216 # 6, 8, 11 and p. 218 #10 (tricky!)
Period 4 - Same as period #1 but you have not done the 'cost/benefit' lesson. Period #1 - We did a lesson on 'Cost/Benefit'. There were 2 handouts. Please find these in the binder - they are not online. We talked a lot about big issues - how do we use and get rid of chemicals in our lives? These types of questions are GREAT application questions. Make sure you review these sheets before your unit test. Homework: If you didn't finish the Cost/Benefit chart, please do so by tomorrow.
Period #4 - We did an OSSLT practice test. No homework. :) Today a lesson on molecular compounds (5.10) . If absent, please download the note "Molecules covalent bonding". Homework: Read 5.10 and do p. 205 # 1a, 2,3,4 and write some thoughts about 5, 6, 9. You will have to read the text to answer best.
Today was Lesson #7 - Polyatomic Compounds. If absent, please download note "Polyatomic Compounds" and watch video "Polyatomic ions". Homework: Read 5.9 and complete # 1,2,5,6,9,10 on page 205
Today a lesson on how to write ionic (and polyatomic) compounds. We used the ion chips to help visualize what's happening. Homework: Read 5.7 and complete p. 200 # 2,3,4,9
Today we reviewed what should have been completed the last 3 days. I took time to conference with each of you about your mark and whether or not you are happy with this. No homework (other than catching up if you're behind).
A lesson with some video clips and some worksheets. If you were absent, please view 'Ions' and 'Ionic Bonding #2' under the 'Video Links' subtitle on the chemistry page. Also, download and print off the following notes: 'Ionic Charges & Chemical Families", "Forming Ions" and "Ionic Compounds". Homework: Read 5.5 and 5.6. Be comfortable with this information!
Today I was away again. You got to watch a MythBusters Video!
Sorry I was home sick today. Mr. Schreiber taught you a lesson on Ions. Homework: Continue with Lesson #5 homework: Read 5.5 and complete # 1-9 at end of chapter (page 191). Remmber to bring back your Biology mark signed by a parent. Thanks. :)
